Document Overview

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is a necessary security step which will help verify that you are the person logging in to your CET account by asking for a code, which is sent in various different ways depending on which you choose to set up.


Instructions

Step 1

Using your preferred browser navigate to my.catholic.tas.edu.au and login using your Username (lastname.firstname) and Password.

Step 2

Click on your Name and then on the Settings button in the pop up menu.

Step 3

Scroll down to the Extra Verification menu. You will be able to see which MFA are already in use and what other alternative MFA options are available.

Step 4

Follow the instructions for each of the different MFA options.

 Okta Verify

You will need to have installed the Okta Verify application on your mobile device before setting up.

Step 4.1.1

Click on the Setup button associated with the Okta Verify option.

Step 4.1.2

You will then be prompted to select your mobile device.

Step 4.1.3

You will be presented with a QR code.

Step 4.1.4

Launch the Okta Verify application on your mobile device and press the blue plus symbol icon.

Step 4.1.5

Scan the QR code to complete the setup.

 Google Authenticator

You will need to have installed the Google Authenticator application on your mobile device before setting up.

Step 4.2.1.

Click on the Setup button associated with Google Authenticator option.

Step 4.2.2

You will directed to another page. Click on Setup to continue.

Step 4.2.3

You will then be prompted to select your mobile device.

Step 4.2.4

You will be presented with a QR code.

Step 4.2.6

Launch the Google Authenticator application on your mobile device. Click the plus symbol icon and select the Scan a QR code option. Scan the QR code. The application will generate a continuously changing 6 digit code.

Step 4.2.7

Now click on the Next button on the webpage. You will be prompted to enter the code generated on your mobile device.

Step 4.2.8

Enter the code and click Verify to complete the setup.

 SMS Authentication

Step 4.3.1

Click on the Setup button associated with SMS Authenticaton option.

Step 4.3.2

Select Australia from the menu. Enter your mobile phone number and click Send Code.

Step 4.3.3

You will receive a SMS message with a 6 digit code.

Step 4.3.4

Enter the code and click on Verify to complete the setup.

You will receive a notification indicating you have successfully completed the process.

 Voice Call Authentication

Step 4.4.1

Click on the Setup button associated with Google Authenticator option.

Step 4.4.2

Select Australia from the menu. Enter your phone number and click Call.

Step 4.4.3

You will receive a voice call that will provide you with a 6 digit code.

Step 4.4.4

Enter the code and click on Verify to complete the setup.

Please be aware that the call does specify the account that the code is for. Avoid signing up with shared phones. Please use direct in dial or mobile phones to avoid confusion.

The IT team recommend using the Okta Verify application for the ease of use.

Trouble Shooting

On occasion when you scroll to the Extra Verification menu you will find it only lists the MFA that are Enabled and Disabled, with no option to set new MFA up.

You will need to click on Edit Profile in your account page to access the setup options.

You may also be prompted to sign into your account as a security measure.
