Removing the Old Fortinet EMS VPN Client

Old Fortinet EMS Client must be removed prior to Installation of the new VPN Client

Uninstalling the FortiClient Software
Left click the Forti icon & select Open Forticlient Console and proceed to the Zero Trust Fabric section(menu on the left of the window)
Click the Disconnect button(if it is already disconnected proceed to the step 3)
You may require a password to Disconnect. This is found in LastPass(if you do not have access to this contact TCEO ICT Team)
When disconnect is completed Quit FortiClient
Open Finder, proceed to Applications & open the ForticlientUninstaller
If a password is required it is the same as the Disconnect password
When the Uninstall process is complete click Done
Restart the computer
Open Finder, select Go from the menu at the top of screen and Select Go to Folder
Type ~/Library/Application Support/ hit enter/return
Look for a Fortinet folder and delete it
Open Finder, select Go from the menu at the top of screen and Select Computer
On the Computer screen select MacintoshHD then Users
Check each User folder for a Fortinet folder. If one is present delete it
Restart the computer
The FortiClient software is now completely removed & it is safe to install the new client
Open the System tray, click the FortiClient icon and select Open Forticlient Console
In the Zero Trust Telemetry section; disconnect FortiClient
From System tray, Shutdown FortiClient
If there is a popup asking for Admin credentials contact your ICT Team
Right click the Windows Start button and select Installed Apps from the resulting menu
Installed Apps type Forti in the search bar. Click on the three dots and select Uninstall
During the Uninstall process there will be a Popup notifying a required reboot. Click OK to reboot your computer. The app will continue Uninstall process and will pop up a window giving the option to restart now or later. If you are planning to Install the new client upon removal of the old click Yes.
When Reboot is complete hold the Windows key then tap R. In the Run box type %Appdata% and hit enter
In the resulting File Explorer Window look for a FortiClient folder and delete it
In the address bar of File Explorer click AppData then open the Local folder
Once again look for a FortiClient folder and delete it
Restart the computer
The FortiClient software is now completely removed & it is safe to install the new client
Removing leftover files & settings
Not required if you have completed these steps as part of uninstall
Open Finder, select Go from the menu at the top of screen and Select Go to Folder
Type ~/Library/Application Support/ hit enter/return
Look for a Fortinet folder and delete it
Open Finder, select Go from the menu at the top of screen and Select Computer
On the Computer screen select MacintoshHD then Users
Check each User folder for a Fortinet folder. If one is present delete it
Restart the computer
Open the System tray, click the FortiClient icon and select Open Forticlient Console
In the Zero Trust Telemetry section; disconnect FortiClient
